    Please go to a salon
    May 12, 2016
I am a licensed hair stylist & was certified in the Bio Ionic System. I love this product & have seen amazing results on clients hair. I can't agree more with the previous comment. If you get the relaxer on your scalp at all, the hair will break off at the scalp!! Never mind if you overlap the Bio on previously relaxed hair! I have seen it happen many times with people that think they can do it themselves with tragic results. This process involves tons of steps & should take a stylist up to 5 hours to complete on a client with a lot of hair & done properly. Just because this product is sold to the public doesn't mean it should be used by the public. Yes it is a lot of money to have it done by a professional, but its worth every penny & it will last for many months. This is a serious product & can have horrible results if any mistakes are made. Please go to a trusted salon.

To all the people who think they should do this themselves.....good luck! It is professional for a reason. We get certified so that it is done correctly without damage. How it is available to the general public is baffling to me also! I am so tired of people putting down tge abilities of professioals that are licensed and we continue our education throughout our career. I read a review that posted the directions and she left out so many important steps!!! Do the math and divide the cost with how long it lasts and it is worth going to a stylist!!!

Bio iconic retex: I am Indian, mid back thin hair. Tight Waves but not curly. Only hair near my temples and ear has a single tight curl and then rest of it is wavy. Never colored but have been professionally relaxing/straightening them for 7-8 years ( once a year ) I got a Coppola keratin treatment professionally done at a really fancy place one month ago and it didn't do anything to my frizz or smoothen my hair texture even a little bit . It probably added a little shine which last for 3 washes! The entire keratin look faded in two weeks. I don't know how or why. I washed it after 3 days on the fourth day and used sulphate free shampoo and conditioner. I gave up and just decided to do this at home because I spent my entire paycheck 300$ on the keratin treatment and got nothing. I also don't know how to section my hair or flat iron my hair at the nape of my neck and behind.i usually just do the sides and the hair that frames around my face. I shampooed and applied a John Frieda heat protection hair spray on the last two inches of my hair(edges). I applied cream 1. I struggled with the sectioning so just put the products avoiding my skull. I didn't put it on the ends about 2 inches.i kept it for 25 min and applied the product on my ends and near my ear and temple and kept it for one min and showered. I didn't want to fry my ends. I know they get really fried even when I flat iron them! I blow dried using my hands and a paddle brush. I applied John Frieda spray again on the ends and flat ironed it. I struggled with the sectioning just did my best and somehow got done and made sure to flat iron hair framing my face. It wasn't poker straight it wasn't a good iron. I couldn't do it I really tried but couldn't. I used her styler flat iron (25$) I didn't use it on highest setting(500) because when I did it sounded like it fried my hair so I used it at 250. I applied neutralizer for exactly 9 min on a timer application 4 min and left it for 5. Washed and blow dried. It looked pretty straight almost 90% of my waves were gone. I did flat iron the hair near my face just to make sure! Final result for someone who doesn't know how to section hair or flat iron properly was pretty damn amazing. It took me one hour and 7 minutes total. It didn't smell weird I just used it in my bathroom and it didn't make my eyes water. They look really good and have a little shine, didn't fry my ends, and it's strange but they feel so natural . It's not poker straight like professionals do but I blame my flat iron skills for that. They are very straight and very natural and I didn't lose any volume which is pretty cool. Definitely give it a try. Even if you don't have any one to help you. I managed it on my own and the results are great. Trust me you will be fine. Total cost was 55$ for retex 30$ and ceramic her styler flat iron for 25$.

This product is amazing. It use to take me forever to blow dry and straighten my hair. Although expensive for salons to do, it was life changing. I was able to let me hair air dry straight with this product. I did it 3 times at one salon and then switched salons. At the new salon, they did the it amazing the first time. The second time they messed it up. I think they tried doing a different product in my hair and it was terrible. If It wasn't a different product they missed the second application on my hair because it use to take me 3hours for the fu process. This time it was 1.5 hours. My hair was thinning and STUNK. I decided after that I wouldn't straighten my hair anymore. If you trust your hair stylist then do it, just know that it takes a long time to grow out when you want it to be curly again because it is a permanent straightening.

    It works!
    January 22, 2014
I have a lot of frizzy wavy/ curly poofy hair. Every stylist comments on the amount of hair I have. I have used this 3 times now and I do it at home by myself. I haven't dyed my hair in years so all the hair now is virgin. It used to take me an hour to blowdry my hair, if I let it airdry, it would still be damp the next day when it was time to shower. The first time I did it, I was scared and only left it on for 25 min, my hair was smoother but still wavy. This last time, I left the step one on total time 50 min, step 2 on for total of 12 min, including application. I really took my time in the ironing part. I can't believe how straight my hair is now! It looks so smooth. And the best part? I timed how long it took to blow dry my hair, right after I showered so still really wet and it took me 7 minutes! I then did about 10 passes with the the flat iron to top it off and it is bone straight, smooth and silky shiny soft! So my styling time went from 90 minutes to 8 minutes with better end result. This product changed my life, I love it! I don't know what happened to those who had bad results, maybe if you are not sure you could do a test strand first? I will use this forever!
    Cheap, great results

There are relaxers that contain sodium hydroxide and there are relaxers that contain thioglycolate. You CANNOT ever combine the two. Each targets different bonds. When used together they will cause breakage. ( It is how they make Nair). You must stick to one or the other. This is just one reason that this product should never be a DIY project. A professional will know this. It is sad that some of the reviewers here have lost hair but I am not surprised because this product is amazing when used correctly but can cause problems when used incorrectly. That is why we stylists must become certified.
Beautiful, straight hair that will not frizz during work-outs or humid/foggy conditions.
Must be used correctly to avoid bad results. Not meant as a DIY product.

Do It Right - You'll Get The Right Results
    June 17, 2013
Below you will see horrific stories regarding the Bio Iconic Retex Hair Straightening System. Those horror stories happen because woman and men are trying to use this system at home. The Retex System is a Professional System that should be executed by a hair professional - - not from your home by an amateur. A few words of legit advice - - 1. Find a salon that offers this system and get a consultation. 2. Do not purchase this product online 3. Do not do this at home by yourself 4. Make an appointment with a CERTIFIED & TRAINED hair professional (yes, the Retex system certifies and trains stylists so the job gets done right)... My hair is thick, shoulder length, wavy/curly/colicked....I recently sought out a trained, certified Retex stylist. She actually worked for the salon I always go to. It took about 3 hrs total and consists of three steps. It was pretty penny but let me tell you my hair is extremely healthy, smooth, and stick straight. I am absolutely shocked with the results. None of my hair has fallen out. My scalp did not burn. My hair is not nappy or snarly. My hair is not dry, damaged, or fried at all. These are all consequences of doing the system without knowing what you are doing. Save yourself the heartache, and out a professional. You will not regret it!

All relaxers using the ingredient "ammonium thioglycolate-main active ingredient in the formula" is considered a Japanese hair straightener. Ftr...all straightener products out there are only tools, so if your stylist don't know what they are doing, anything can happen, whether they use Liscio, Yuko, Bio Ionic, Matrix, and etc... Food for thought...

    Awesome Product!
    September 1, 2012
First off, I'd like to say that I am not a hairdresser, but I've had a few chemical straighteners put in my hair in the last 5 years or so. The first and second ones I had were by Matrix and the third was some Japanese Straightener. The Matrix one worked pretty well, but left my hair slightly dry. The Japanese Straightener fried my hair!! I literally cut it all off because it was so horrible! I had a little two-inch Afro, and it looked awful on me (I'm a Caucasion female, by the way). Since I'd had these procedures done in the past, I figured I could do this on my own. I used IonFixx (because I due my hair frequently) and the BioIonic Retex System. I didn't use any other BioIonic products--I already had a cheapie hair dryer and an ionic flat iron I bought from Sally's. My hair turned out way better than I expected! It still has a slight wave to it, but that's fine with me. I live in Florida, and I couldn't stand how frizzy my freakishly curly hair would get on humid days (basically everyday lol). My hair is really soft and so much more manageable! I love it! It was totally worth the three hours and $40 I spent on it! Also, my hair is mid-back, and I still have 1/2 a tub of the stuff left--hooray for touch-ups! It would definitely be easier if you enlist the help of a friend, but it's definitely doable on your own. I can't say enough good things about how my hair turned out!
The smell of Creme #1 is awful, Other than that, it's great!

    Bio Ionic Retex Hair Straightening
    June 2, 2012
I LOVE this product! I have been performing hair straightening services since 2005 and I feel like I have created a miracle every time that I am finished doing one. My client's hair is straight, healthy, smooth, humidity-proof and still has body to it. The hair can still be curled, unlike some of the other thermal reconditioning results. I would NOT recommend this as a do-it-yourself service, though. There are too many variables that can go wrong if you don't know what you are doing. When done properly, it's amazing!! My website might answer some questions about the procedure. Feel free to visit it.
    Hair stays healthy!

    Bio Ionics Retex
    May 2, 2012
This product is the best on the market, it is the most gentle permanent treatment for straightening your hair that you can buy or use, although it takes a little time to apply to get a perfect result it is well worth your time. i have used this product for the last 4 yrs on very curly frizzy uncontrollable hair, this product brings my hair to a very straight finish or a slight wave depending on how long i choose to leave the cream on. i also recommend having a bio ionics hair iron and hair dryer to use with product to make it have its best results while processing, after you hair is finished being straightened by this product you will be amazed as it takes so little time to take care of and is so silky soft and smooth. it is much cheaper to buy from here and do it yourself than pay a hairdresser around 600.00 to have it done, sometimes more depending on length of your hair. i used to use the bio ionics hair shampoo's and conditioner also but have recently found out there is really no need to, now i use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
is gentle on hair compared to other straightening products. works well and gives a choice of how much movement you want in hair according to how long you process for. gives a great finish every time, while being easy to use
the postage cost to australia, as it is dearer than the product itself. and the time it takes to apply to get best result. although its still worth using.

    Great product
    September 10, 2011
I have read the reviews on the product and will agree with most of them that this is a great product. Some people gave the product a low rating because they did not know that it could not be used on previously relaxed hair... Since this is a professional product it would be assumed that the person using it would already know that. I have tight curly mixed hair (black/white mixed race) and this type of hair is difficult to keep moist and bouncy. It is also difficult to straighten with an iron due to the volume. I have been using Thermal Ionic (from Sally's) and it worked great and got the job done. After switching to the Bio Ionic Retex system, I get the same straightening results with much LESS damage to my hair and what a feel a much better neutralizer (step 2). It also takes much less time to process my hair with the first step which is why I think my hair is not damaged. I do recommend that the first step is not left on much more than 10 minutes the for first time users even those with resistant hair (which I have), until you know how it works on your hair. This will prevent it from unnecessary damage. Also your hair will not stay bone straight when you wash it thereafter, but will not require an iron either it will just be kind of wavy straight, which I find very pretty. As far as using other products by bio ionic (like shampoo and conditioner)-I don't and am pleased with my hair. I do use the CHI shampoo and treatment I can't think of the exact type but it's the one in the grey bottle and RED cap and writing on it. Basically I use CHI styling products, not because I find them better but because I have been using them all along and did not try those by bio ionic. Oh also: I find that the product over time changes your hair color to a lighter tone, nothing noticeable to others, but you will notice it. Hope this helps
works great, less damage than other products

    January 26, 2011
This was money well spent.....I live in Australia, and the postage ended up costing me more than the product but I'm so pleased with the results I'll be doing it all over again when I need to. My hair is in better condition now and soooooo much easier to style. Instead of using 4 different products and a straightening iron every morning, I'm now using a serum after I wash my hair and only the iron if I'm going out and want it dead straight. I have never been able to let my hair dry naturally as it would end up a big boof. Sounds lame but its a life changer!!

I was about 13 when i first tried this product, and it worked INSTANTLY!!!! my hair was soft, silky, and long. it was amazing.i went from crazy, unmanagable hair to silky smooth and soft. I would recomend this to ANYONE. it doesnt damage your hair like other relaxers, and it lasts 6 months. it takes a little while the first time, but the retouches are a breeze. as soon as you wash the first creme out, you cant miss the difference, your hair is instantlt healthy and will stay healthy. It only takes me about 20 minutes to syle my hair right after I get this done. This is the best thing that I have ever tried on my hair, and ive been using it for 2 years now.

    Exellent product
    October 13, 2010
I read the descriptions of the product and said very clearly that inside the box I should find the relaxer, the neutralizer and the instruction booklet. Unfortunately the booklet was not inside the box. So I had to go on the internet to try to find the instructions to apply the product. It seems this is "recommended to use by a profesional"..oh., please. A beauty parlor charges you more than 500 dollars for this. This, believe me, you can do it your self. So in order for me to help all others who suffered the same as I, of not finding the instructions, here it goes: To apply all steps you will need: -Hair dryer (doesn't need to be Bio Ionic) -Bio Ionic Conditioning straightener iron (Mus be Bio IOnic) -Intensive Mosturizing Shampoo (if you buy the trio this product is inside) -Intensive mosturizing reconstructor (if you buy the trio this product is inside) - SHine sealer (if you buy the trio this product is inside) -Hair coloring brush -Plastic gloves -Comb This are the steps: 1- Wash the hair with the Bio Ionic Shampoo, rinse and towel dry. 2- Divide the head in 5 or 6 sections, and cover your hands with gloves. 3- Put the gloves on and tart applying the #1 Product. No not apply to scalp, leave 1/2 inch. Work fast, and the maximum time depending on the type of hair is 30 minutes (fine hair less time). Then start massaging each section. Te product on this step smells bad, so it's normal. Use a fine comb to work the roots near the face. After time is out. Rinse very well. Do not shampoo, but make sure you rinse well. 4-Blow dry the hair with the hands and dryer, then start using the Iron and make sure you do it very well from the root to the ends. 5- After you have finish ironing the hair, then you will need to apply the #2 (neutralizer). This will neutralize the #1 product still in your hair and will take all the bad odor from the hair and will stop the alcaline process from the number 1 product. 6- Rinse well and shampoo 3 times with the Bio Ionic Shampoo. Rinse and then apply the mosturizing reconstructor. Massage and wear a plastic cap for like 30 minutes. Rinse well. 7- Towel Dry your hair. Apply shine sealer to wet hair. Then blow dry hair. If you prefer blow drying with a hair dryer or the Bio Ionic Iron. This is a very time consuming process, but believe me it's worth it. No wonder why hair salons charges so much money. But you can do it at home. It's recommended not to wear any rubber bands, bobby pins or anything that can leave a wave in you hair. . Avoid sweat, don't wet you hair during shower, and sleep with a satin pillowcase. All this measures just for 72 hours. I wrote this steps because I did not like not receiving the intruction booklet. I think this is somewhat a way to make you go to a professional salon. Hair pro's are human and intellingent like me and you, If they cand do it so can we, so there you go, do it yourself and don't spend money in a beauty parlor. Good bye to you all

    Not Enough Information
    July 28, 2010
I just received this product today and imagine my disappointment when I pulled out the instructions and it said do not apply to previously relaxed hair. I wish that would have been labeled somewhere on the site. The product itself requires you to have: * IonFixx hair strengthener *IonTherapy smoothing treatment *IonProtect protein protector *IonClarify Shampoo *IonCondition None of this is mentioned on the site description which led me to purchase a product that I couldn't have used even if I wanted to due to the fact that I didn't have everything I needed. Sleekhair, please do a better job of product description in the future.

I had my hair professionally "retexed" for the first time about a year ago, and a second time about six months ago. No additional products or flat ironing was necessary after processing. Hair was soft and perfectly pin straight with no maintenance required. The one thing I would suggest is stay away from hair dying if you're going to use this product. I made the mistake of dying my hair a month before and a week or so after the second straightening. My hair got totally fried and really hasn't been the same since.
