I have the same issue with my iron, got if for Xmas in 2011, barely used it and started having issues with the serum leaking( that wasnt a big deal) then i went to use it last week and nothing! ( no power)
It really sucks you spend so much money on you think a good brand, but just goes to show you brands mean nothing! I'll stick with my Walmart brand! It would be nice if they would warranty this considering they suck!

I spent $160 and used my flat iron maybe once a week. I had it for under a year and it just stopped working. If you value your money and straight hair, DO NOT BUY THIS! Wish I could give zero stars.

I can't believe so many other people had the same problem as I did with this product. I've had mine a little over a year, don't use it frequently, and take very good care of it. This morning after turning it on after one minute, I heard a loud pop and saw it spark out. It wouldn't work after that; I even tested it in another electrical outlet. Too bad I didn't know about these reviews before I bought it 1 1/2 years ago. I paid $160 plus tax for this piece of crap. I called Joico and they said - too bad, it's 6 months over the 1 year warranty. They wouldn't even let me mail it to them to examine and fix even though I offered to pay for it. What a racket. This product is dangerous. It may cause physical harm to someone while using it, especially since it's used so close to the face and scalp, or it could potentially be a fire hazard. I wrote to the company expressing my frustration and wonder if I'll receive a reply. A real dud - and an expensive one at that!!!!

Poor quality item. Iron fell apart after only having had it for a little over a year! The plastic on the inside of the plugs receptacle on the iron corroded. The iron shorted out, sparked and is inoperable! This is a quality issue and not a result of normal wear and tear considering that I used the iron infrequently and was always very careful when handling it. I have purchased $30 hair dryers/irons that have fared better than this iron!!! Very disappointed with this item. I called the company and was told if its over a year old there is nothing they could do!!!!!! Bottom line is Joico does not stand by their product. Joico only offers a 12 month limited warranty, and to top it all off, they charge you and additional $15.00 for replacement and or repair so save yourself aggravation and money!!!

This hair straightener leaks product, and does a passable, but not great, job at straightening hair, and has such flimsy construction that it fell apart (quite literally) in less than 4 months. Bits of the straightener just started breaking off, and I always made sure to store it safely, and was careful not to drop it. I bought it to replace my 5 year old Chi's, and I have since bought a Sedu. I really regret buying it, and I'd advise anyone thinking about buying it to head over to Folica and get a straightener that works better and lasts. Finally - the heat protection product is fairly expensive - I'd rather use a standalone product.

Initially it worked wonderfully, after about under two year time frame the serum started to leak on my hair. I have had the container replaced three times and the iron once. overall it's ok

I am a stylist and I love the way this iron works it's magic on frail hair. But, I have gone through two of these irons. One sparked and wouldn't turn on again after 3 months of use! The other leaked the fuel so bad it was useless and had to exchange. Had to mail my last one to joico because it was past the 60 days. Still 2weeks later, no iron in the mail. I'm getting frustrated. The money we spend, these irons should last much, much longer!

I bought this with such high hopes. Unfortunately, it leaked a ridiculous amount and produced no steam whatsoever.

I purchased this iron in July 2010. There was an issue with the iron but Sleekhair replaced. I am very happy with this iron and the service from Sleekhair! You can adjust the heat ( helpful for damaged hair) and the mist makes is very shiny. Looks like a Keratin treatment when done!

This is hands down the best straightener I've ever used! Only problem is, after on 5 uses it "sparked" and then shorted out. I'm REALLY glad it didn't spark while I was using it, just while I was letting it warm up. Apparently, this is a common occurance with this iron according to other reviews. It cost $15 to ship this to be repaired, which isn't a lot of money, but after shelling out $135 bucks, I shouldn't have to do this. Just sayin'.

I've had to go through 3 irons. All of them leak like crazy and also my aunt had went through 2 that have sparked and blown out the plug. I'm not sure why we keep getting defective ones. The supplier out of Joplin, MO is saying they've fixed it, bull!!
It's a great iron. I love the way it works. Just not the way it malfunctions after 3 of them.

First, I would like to say that most of the reviews u will read on here are from people that get one that happens to malfunction and they come to complain. There are few people that will get online to say how great something is, because they are too busy using it! haha
Okay, I have VERY thick, coarse and naturally curly hair, I have tried every iron there is, from paul mitchell, chi, revlon, everything. The chi straightened my hair very well, but it pulled it, and burnt it, like i could literally smell my hair burning, and within two weeks my hair was breaking off so bad. So I heard about this one, and the first time I used it I knew it was a keeper.
It usually takes me no lie an hour to straighten my hair, and it took at max fifteen minutes with the KPak, my hair has never felt softer, and been shinier, and I can already tell it's healthier. The first one I had the cord came out, and I took it back and they said they've never had one bad thing happen with these, all the women there use it, so they gave me a new one and took that one back. If it for some reason messes up within 60 days, you can exchange it for a new one, and after that is has a 1 year warantee on it.
Needless to say, I recommend this to every girl out there. I've used it on several people and they all want one.
Don't tell Joico but I use it regularly without to vapor feul, and even though it's not AS shiny, it still works amazing. Oh and not once have I smelled my hair burning and it doesn't pull like a chi, it just glides over it!

I have bought two of these..They are great at first...Until about two months..They spark and that's it...I was able to return one and my 3rd one did the samething..Expensive straighner for a couple months..

I purchased this iron and had it for two weeks before it sparked and just quit working so i sent it back. I received a new one about 3 months later, had it for a week and it did the exact same thing!!!! So now, once again, I have to pay shipping both ways to send and receive yet another iron! I am so frustrated! This product works amazingly but if the next one does the same thing then I must say I am done with it!

At the salon we use & love it ! Our new favorite is the Vapor conditioning Flat Iron, which takes less time to flat iron the hair & you can tell a big difference immediately after using this product :) I've seen it used by celebrity stylist George Papanikolas and the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink ReconstRx VaporIron is fabulous!

I have had my vapor iron for 4 months and it works perfectly. I use it almost every day and my hair is in better condition now than it was before i started using it. I like the fuel refills, but I'd like a bigger size.

This would be the best flat iron in the universe IF it didn't leak. I purchased the pink breast cancer edition one and it leaked like crazy whether the vapor resevoir was on or off. Exchanged it for the brown one, it did the same exact thing. I am very annoyed! I tried to use less fluid and that didn't make any difference. Today I contacted Joico and only was able to leave a message. Disappointed. The iron only comes with instructions on how to return the iron if there are any issues plus you have to pay $ 15 to boot. Not too thrilled, lets see if I get a response...

this straightener is such a piece of shit! everytime i go to use it i fill the little chamber up & all the serum is out within 5 minutes... it leaks sooo bad!!! & when it come out like it is suppose to, there is always WAYYYY too much that does come out so my hair feels super grease because of how much came out that i need to wash my hair again... I have gotten 4 chambers to my first iron that all didnt work so i ended up sending the straightener back & getting a new one that would hopefully work. When i went to use my new one the second i went to turn it on i noticed all the serum on my counter & all over my hands...
seriously dont waste your time or your money on this thing... its such a waste!!!

I am now on my 4th iron!! The first one leaked, so I sent it back. I then tried the 2nd one that also leaked SOOO bad it would literally drip on the vanity. So I get the 3rd one, which didn't leak (YEAH!!), but only lasted about 2 weeks and then quit powering on. Now onto #4, that I have used twice. The first day, no leaks, but it didn't seem to be "vaporing" very well. The 2nd day I used it, guess what, vapor fluid started leaking out on my hand, so it is going back too.
My future daughter-in-law who is a beautician has 2 of these, one for her personal use, and one to use in the shop. She bought her irons before they were available to the public, and hasn't had ANY problems out of either one. SO it sounds like the very first ones were good, then they went to pot.
I'm not sure if I'm going to try another one or not. I do LOVE the results, but not real confident on the iron lasting over a couple of months. ANd when they cost as much as they do, they need to last ALOT longer then that. Also I think the iron still damages your hair somewhat, but not to the extent of regular irons.

I purchased this iron with high hopes. It had been recommended by my hair stylist. I have blonde hair(foils) and was looking for something to bring the shine back. I bought the iron and took some time to figure out how to get the iron to release the vapor. The instructions were very poor. Once I DID finally get it to work, the vapor came out sporadically. The times when it works, it's GREAT! My hair looks MUCh healthier....However, it's hit and miss LITERALLY with the vapor. To add to this, TWO of the irons stopped working after SPARKS popped out. I went back and got a new one each time. I am now about to try my THIRD iron. I really hope this one lasts because I LOVE the results--- WHEN IT WORKS. If they can iron out the kinks (pardon the pun), this will be a GREAT iron!!!

It does a good job, though I had a hell of a time figuring out how to unlock it. MY MANUAL DIDN'T EVEN MENTION A LOCK. It sure didn't tell me how to UNlock it. I discovered how to do that only by watching a user video on YouTube. The Canadian version has no indication whatsoever how you turn it on, how you set it to release vapour, etc. The buttons are NOT labeled on the device itself -- it seems like this was rushed to market and I expect FAR better product support from something that I spent $239 CDN on. I like the iron but I am NOT impressed by Joico's customer service or the way they cut corners.
