Great iron... if used properly!

I have been flat ironing my hair for over 9 years with no issue with the CHI iron, but received this iron as a gift. The first time I used the FHI iron, I was very displeased-- my hair did not get straight at ALL using the method I do with the CHI. I was very tired and rushed when using it the first time, which was why my hair didn't straighten.
The second time I used it, I ensured that I followed the salon technique of straightening the hair. The first thing I noticed was that my hair glided through the iron with ease that I never achieved with the CHI. Second thing noticed was that it doesn't get as hot as the CHI (the CHI gets incredibly hot and that may cause breakage/damage for some). Third thing noticed was that it left the hair very soft. The hair didn't have that "crunchy" feel-- it was shiny and felt very moisturized. I love this flat iron! As much as I love CHI, I may have to sell it so I can use my FHI exclusively. FHI is definitely a great choice!

Hands down the best flat iron I have ever used. I have had ones that fry your hair or leave marks. If your hair is breaking off with this iron it wasn't the iron that damaged it it was already damaged. My hair dresser and her mom have a salon and for years have used this iron so I bought one to use at home when I didn't have time to go to the salon. She uses the black one and hers has a temp setting but this one doesn't so people with thin or dry brittle hair may want a temp control. As with any heat styling product you must use a heat protector, I use Fantasia IC and the combo works great for my daughter as well as myself. This Iron is very durable , I have had mine for over 2 years now.

This product is worth every penny, maybe even more. I have natural, coarse African American hair. Once I made the decision not to relax my hair, I knew I needed a good flat iron & the FHI fits the bill. It just arrived in the mail today, & I used it for the first time with straight, shiny, & healthy-looking results. That is due largely in part to the flat iron itself. Because of the plates curves, I was able to easily curl my hair while straightening it.
I bought this product after reading several reviews about the CHI, FHI, Solia etc, and this one seemed to be the most for your money.
The only draw-back is the fact that there is no temperature setting, so it gets very hot! That is good for me because of the texture of my hair, but if you have fine hair already, you may do better with a temperature controlled flat iron.
I cannot attest to the flat irons durability since I just got it today, but the materials & production dont look shabby at all in my opinion.

This is the worst flat iron I have ever purchased. For how much damage it has done to my hair, I can not see why this thing is so expensive! There is no different heat settings, just an off /on button. My hair has become incredibly more damaged since using this product that it makes me sick. I DO NOT reccomend someone with fine hair even going near this thing.
