What it is:
Avlon Affirm 5 in 1 Reconstructor is a unique blend of micro and macrofibrous conditioners that is applied immediately after rinsing the relaxer from the hair and before the Normalizing Shampoo. While substantive conditioners are deposited well within the hair fiber, the hair is restored to its normal pH of the hair. (NOTE: Deep conditioning is still possible at this time because the upper mantle of the hair is still alkaline--approximate pH of 10.0--and the cuticles remain partially open). For use on damaged, fine or limp hair. Also recommended as a deep penetrating moisturizing conditioner for regular salon reconstructive treatment services. Available in Gallon, 32 fl. oz. (pictured) and 16 fl. oz. sizes.

What it does:

  • Re-aligns, seals and smooths cuticles.
  • Minimizes porosity and restores hair to normal pH.
  • Electronically repairs damaged areas within and along hairshaft by attaching to negatively charged (damaged) areas.
  • Minimizes breakage and shedding.
  • Minimizes porosity and smooths cuticles.
  • Detangles hair.
  • Imparts body and volume to fine, limp hair while adding shine.

What else you need to know:
Avlon Affirm 5 in 1 Reconstructor increases fiber elasticity and tensile strength. It also seals and smooths hair fibers, minimizes breakage and shedding.

    Great Reconstructor!
I rotate this reconstructor with the MoisturRight hair masque. I has a lot of slip and leaves my hair soft, shiny, and full of body. I always follow up with the hair masque to put moisture back in, and I have also seen a huge difference using this after rinsing my relaxer. My hair has changed so much for the better since I started using Affirm products.
ProsStrengthens, lots of slip, restores hair, adds volume and fullness, best price on Sleekhair

    NO Results
I had used this religiously when relaxing my tresses and saw no results. It could be due to improper use and/or not using it in between relaxer as directed. Either way considering the cost something should have shown through but sadly did not.

    Awesome conditioner
This is best for damaged hair. I colored my natural hair last summer and it began to feel stringy. I started using this conditioner and it has really helped me to restore my hair. Best reconstructive conditioner on the market for natural hair.

    I Love this stuff!
I can't say enough about this product. It leaves my hair very healthy looking. I have extremely damaged hair due to perming. This eliminates the damaged look. Even though it says to put a cap on and wait 30 minutes for extremely damaged hair, you should get under a hair dryer for the 30 minutes. If you do, the healthy look will stay with you for a while. I actually feel like it helps to fix some of the damage rather than just mask it. I use it as a daily conditioner, leaving it on for only a few minutes before rinsing, and also as a damage repair elixir, putting a cap on and going under the dryer for 20 to 30 minutes for long term damage control. I highly recommend this product for damaged hair repair.

Do I have to shampoo or condition my hair before using this product ?
It is suggested to follow the instructions on this bottle and for it to be applied by a licensed professional. This is to be used as a treatment perhaps every other day and rinsed out replacing your conditioner when being used.

    1) Apply immediately after rinsing creme relaxer from hair and leave on for 5 minutes. 2) As a reconstructive treatment: Apply liberally after shampooing. Cover hair with plastic cap and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse Well.

Can I use5-1 Affirm Reconstructor after shampoo even though I no longer get perms? Will it damage my hair?(hair is Thinning)
No, this is not suggested if you no longer perm your hair being that it will change the natural porosity and PH level in the hair.

Yes, but it can not help with the hair loss (if the hair fall down from roots). But if your hair thinning because brittle it will help strengthen their.

Unfortunately I can't say for sure because I've never used it as a stand-alone treatment. On the the hand, I can't imagine that you couldn't use it as a conditioner. I would double check the label on the bottle and the product specs on the website just to be safe.

Yes, as an additional deep conditioning (not as an everyday/week or else you will dry the hair out; this is a protein treatment), if you dont have fine hair you can mix this with avlon positive link and give yourself a moisture rich deep conditioner. This product alone may not solve your dryness problem, it would solve brittleness though (because its protein), adding the positive link will help seal in the water. You may want to make a habit of using this product on your wash 1wk before your next relaxer, the combo 1wk after, the positive link alone on the 3rd wk, the following weeks just do your normal wash/condition routine, just make sure you're using moisturizing shampoo/conditioner that DOES NOT contain sulfates. That will makes hair (especially chemically treated) dry & brittle
