FiberGuard Sensitive Scalp Creme Relaxer is a multipatented, four-step system which preserves up to 40% more of the hair’s strength compared to conventional relaxers. Formulated with Avlon’s exclusive Fiber Strengthening Complex (FSC), which reinforces the hair fiber structure during relaxing. Strengthening polymers in the relaxer creme penetrate hair fibers leaving hair with significantly more tensile strength and elasticity after relaxing. This patented conditioning relaxer is designed to provide maximum scalp comfort for clients with dry and sensitive scalps. Capable of retarding osmotic pressure build-up. Hair is scientifically proven to be stronger and better able to withstand mechanical stresses related to normal styling and the environment. Available in an adjustable formula: mild, normal and resistant strengths.

Benefits:

  • Hair retains significantly more tensile strength and elasticity.
  • Ideal solution for relaxing color-treated or damaged hair.
  • Restores moisture, shine and body.
  • Leaves hair soft, silky, well-conditioned, incredibly healthy- looking and easy to comb.
  • Custom-Mix Formula allows formula to be adjustable to Mild, Normal, and Resistant Strengths.

    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!
I've been using affirm for years now and enjoy the results but for some reason my scalp had become sensitive after some time. Although this is geared towards color and relaxer same day services. It works wonders for my scalp. No matter my previous hair activity my scalp no longer burns. I now purchase the 4lb tub.

    "love it"
I have been using this product since 1997 and it is the best product for my hair. I have used other product before this one that irritated my scalp that caused by hair to break. Every time my hairdresser relaxes my hair using this product she is amazed because it always leave my hair bouncy, soft and shinny.

My hair suffered from this one
I had long lustrous hair and my hair stylist switched relaxers at her salon and started using this one on my hair and at first, it was beautiful, but after the second usage, I noticed that my hair started to get really dry, straw-like, dull and the color was REALLY ugly. Granted I only used a semi-permanent black color, but I always used it and never had these issues with my hair. The only change in my hair care routine was this relaxer. Needless to say, my stylist stopped using it immediately and had to put me on a treatment regimen until my hair bounced back. Thankfully since switching to Affirm Creme Relaxer, my hair is back to normal.
ConsWhile it was gentle on my scalp it left my hair, dull, straw-like and dried-out.

    wonderful
It is wonderful and now it will be the only relaxer that I use. Linda
ProsIt does not burn my head and it does not have a bad smell. Your individual containers is just right for one use. Someone should have thought of it sooner. My daughters will be using it from now on.
ConsI do not have any dislikes

    Love it!
I use to use the regular relaxer. This works even better. You control the degree you want to use. For some reason, the perm lasted longer with longer intervals be tween my touch ups.

I am used to store bought relaxers which leave my hair straight but damaged. I followed the directions for the mild and WOW! 1.Preservo 2.Relaxer (smooth, smooth, smooth) 3.Sustenance 4.Normalizing Shampoo (2) My hair came out soft and silky right away. It's been 2 weeks and my hair and scalp are better than ever! I'll be buying this again!

Followup Report to my Initial Use of Affirm Sensitive
I've applied two touch ups since last September (2011). This relaxer passes the "acid test" for me. Usually, my soft, fine (but thick) hair becomes damaged and begins shedding as more relaxer is applied to new growth. I usually use pure shea butter as an intensive conditioner to relieve this problem. However, with Affirm no excessive hair shedding occurred. I will never change relaxers. Affirm is the gold standard of relaxers as far as I am concerned.
ProsEverything PLUS new growth touch-ups leave hair breakage-free!
    ConsNOT ONE THING!

Is this product purchases from a professional distributor only? If not, can another company manufacture the product and keep the name affirm. For instance when people purchase knock off designer bags/purses. Want to ensure if I decide to get a relaxer my hair stylist is using professional products

    what is step 2?
Step 2 is the actual product used to straighten your hair. This a highly basic solution used to aid in reconfiguration of the protein strands of your hair. Step 1 is used to lubricate the hair. In step 2 you will have to mix the yellow activation fluid with the white cream inside one of the tubs. There are three strengths that can be measured out (mild, normal-which i use, resistant) This product is handy as it has a color indicator (which is a light pink) that allows you to know that you have mixed the final solution necessary for application. I have been using this formula for over 4 years and it has done nothing but great things for my hair. I have fairly thick African American hair that is half way down my back (4 years ago it was above my neck and brittle) thanks to this product and is daughter products (steps 1-4 and the kera care line of hair care). I hope this helps.

Does this 9 applications kit contain the preservo, the normalizing shampoo and everything else I need? Do I need to purchase anything else seperately?
Avlon Affirm products never fail me. The sensitive scalp relaxer allows me to relax my hair frequently without damage or breakage. Due ensure when purchasing the product that you also purchase neutralizing shampoo for this kit does not come with this.

The kit contains the 9 applications, one bottle of activator, an activator-measuring cylinder, and a wooden stir-stick. So, you are correct. You need Steps 1 (Preservo), 3 (Sustenance) and 4 (Etape). Hope this helps.

The kit contains only the relaxer system. You will need to purchase the normalizing shampoo and anything else you need separately. I have used most of the products and highly recommend them. I have extremely sensitive scalp and experienced absolutely no irritation with this relaxer system.
