    Please go to a salon
I am a licensed hair stylist & was certified in the Bio Ionic System. I love this product & have seen amazing results on clients hair. I can't agree more with the previous comment. If you get the relaxer on your scalp at all, the hair will break off at the scalp!! Never mind if you overlap the Bio on previously relaxed hair! I have seen it happen many times with people that think they can do it themselves with tragic results. This process involves tons of steps & should take a stylist up to 5 hours to complete on a client with a lot of hair & done properly. Just because this product is sold to the public doesn't mean it should be used by the public. Yes it is a lot of money to have it done by a professional, but its worth every penny & it will last for many months. This is a serious product & can have horrible results if any mistakes are made. Please go to a trusted salon.

    Pay a professional! !
To all the people who think they should do this themselves.....good luck! It is professional for a reason. We get certified so that it is done correctly without damage. How it is available to the general public is baffling to me also! I am so tired of people putting down tge abilities of professioals that are licensed and we continue our education throughout our career. I read a review that posted the directions and she left out so many important steps!!! Do the math and divide the cost with how long it lasts and it is worth going to a stylist!!!

    Loved it
Bio iconic retex: I am Indian, mid back thin hair. Tight Waves but not curly. Only hair near my temples and ear has a single tight curl and then rest of it is wavy. Never colored but have been professionally relaxing/straightening them for 7-8 years ( once a year ) I got a Coppola keratin treatment professionally done at a really fancy place one month ago and it didn't do anything to my frizz or smoothen my hair texture even a little bit . It probably added a little shine which last for 3 washes! The entire keratin look faded in two weeks. I don't know how or why. I washed it after 3 days on the fourth day and used sulphate free shampoo and conditioner. I gave up and just decided to do this at home because I spent my entire paycheck 300$ on the keratin treatment and got nothing. I also don't know how to section my hair or flat iron my hair at the nape of my neck and behind.i usually just do the sides and the hair that frames around my face. I shampooed and applied a John Frieda heat protection hair spray on the last two inches of my hair(edges). I applied cream 1. I struggled with the sectioning so just put the products avoiding my skull. I didn't put it on the ends about 2 inches.i kept it for 25 min and applied the product on my ends and near my ear and temple and kept it for one min and showered. I didn't want to fry my ends. I know they get really fried even when I flat iron them! I blow dried using my hands and a paddle brush. I applied John Frieda spray again on the ends and flat ironed it. I struggled with the sectioning just did my best and somehow got done and made sure to flat iron hair framing my face. It wasn't poker straight it wasn't a good iron. I couldn't do it I really tried but couldn't. I used her styler flat iron (25$) I didn't use it on highest setting(500) because when I did it sounded like it fried my hair so I used it at 250. I applied neutralizer for exactly 9 min on a timer application 4 min and left it for 5. Washed and blow dried. It looked pretty straight almost 90% of my waves were gone. I did flat iron the hair near my face just to make sure! Final result for someone who doesn't know how to section hair or flat iron properly was pretty damn amazing. It took me one hour and 7 minutes total. It didn't smell weird I just used it in my bathroom and it didn't make my eyes water. They look really good and have a little shine, didn't fry my ends, and it's strange but they feel so natural . It's not poker straight like professionals do but I blame my flat iron skills for that. They are very straight and very natural and I didn't lose any volume which is pretty cool. Definitely give it a try. Even if you don't have any one to help you. I managed it on my own and the results are great. Trust me you will be fine. Total cost was 55$ for retex 30$ and ceramic her styler flat iron for 25$.

    Loved until....
This product is amazing. It use to take me forever to blow dry and straighten my hair. Although expensive for salons to do, it was life changing. I was able to let me hair air dry straight with this product. I did it 3 times at one salon and then switched salons. At the new salon, they did the it amazing the first time. The second time they messed it up. I think they tried doing a different product in my hair and it was terrible. If It wasn't a different product they missed the second application on my hair because it use to take me 3hours for the fu process. This time it was 1.5 hours. My hair was thinning and STUNK. I decided after that I wouldn't straighten my hair anymore. If you trust your hair stylist then do it, just know that it takes a long time to grow out when you want it to be curly again because it is a permanent straightening.

    It works!
I have a lot of frizzy wavy/ curly poofy hair. Every stylist comments on the amount of hair I have. I have used this 3 times now and I do it at home by myself. I haven't dyed my hair in years so all the hair now is virgin. It used to take me an hour to blowdry my hair, if I let it airdry, it would still be damp the next day when it was time to shower. The first time I did it, I was scared and only left it on for 25 min, my hair was smoother but still wavy. This last time, I left the step one on total time 50 min, step 2 on for total of 12 min, including application. I really took my time in the ironing part. I can't believe how straight my hair is now! It looks so smooth. And the best part? I timed how long it took to blow dry my hair, right after I showered so still really wet and it took me 7 minutes! I then did about 10 passes with the the flat iron to top it off and it is bone straight, smooth and silky shiny soft! So my styling time went from 90 minutes to 8 minutes with better end result. This product changed my life, I love it! I don't know what happened to those who had bad results, maybe if you are not sure you could do a test strand first? I will use this forever!
    ProsCheap, great results

    One Last Thing
There are relaxers that contain sodium hydroxide and there are relaxers that contain thioglycolate. You CANNOT ever combine the two. Each targets different bonds. When used together they will cause breakage. ( It is how they make Nair). You must stick to one or the other. This is just one reason that this product should never be a DIY project. A professional will know this. It is sad that some of the reviewers here have lost hair but I am not surprised because this product is amazing when used correctly but can cause problems when used incorrectly. That is why we stylists must become certified.
ProsBeautiful, straight hair that will not frizz during work-outs or humid/foggy conditions.
ConsMust be used correctly to avoid bad results. Not meant as a DIY product.

Do It Right - You'll Get The Right Results
Below you will see horrific stories regarding the Bio Iconic Retex Hair Straightening System. Those horror stories happen because woman and men are trying to use this system at home. The Retex System is a Professional System that should be executed by a hair professional - - not from your home by an amateur. A few words of legit advice - - 1. Find a salon that offers this system and get a consultation. 2. Do not purchase this product online 3. Do not do this at home by yourself 4. Make an appointment with a CERTIFIED & TRAINED hair professional (yes, the Retex system certifies and trains stylists so the job gets done right)... My hair is thick, shoulder length, wavy/curly/colicked....I recently sought out a trained, certified Retex stylist. She actually worked for the salon I always go to. It took about 3 hrs total and consists of three steps. It was pretty penny but let me tell you my hair is extremely healthy, smooth, and stick straight. I am absolutely shocked with the results. None of my hair has fallen out. My scalp did not burn. My hair is not nappy or snarly. My hair is not dry, damaged, or fried at all. These are all consequences of doing the system without knowing what you are doing. Save yourself the heartache, and hairache...seek out a professional. You will not regret it!

I had the treatment done about a year ago . My hair is now curly from my scalp and has grown out about four or five inches. Which is leaving the rest of my hair straight. Is it possible to perm hair that has been treated without ruining it? My husband misses my curly hair.

do you have to use the bio-ionic hair straightener?
I had my hair professionally "retexed" for the first time about a year ago, and a second time about six months ago. No additional products or flat ironing was necessary after processing. Hair was soft and perfectly pin straight with no maintenance required. The one thing I would suggest is stay away from hair dying if you're going to use this product. I made the mistake of dying my hair a month before and a week or so after the second straightening. My hair got totally fried and really hasn't been the same since.
