Goldwell Color Remover for Hair removes the oxidation tints off your hair. The Goldwell System Hair Color Remover provides safe and gentle removal of oxidation tints. Panthenol is the key ingredient to ensure integrity of the hair. Each box contains one application. Quickly and gently removes oxidative (indirect) pigments from the hair without lightening the natural pigments!

Not every hair color removal is necessary due to a mistake. Some clients just like to change their hair color often, and they should be encouraged to do so, because it keeps them coming back for your creativity and expertise. System Hair Color Remover reverses the coupling reaction of the dyes, so they can be gently removed from the hair

Use System Color Remover when:
  • Your client experimented with home hair color
  • The target color has “browned out” due to over-deposit of alkaline color – i.e. existing color is 6B and target color is 6K
  • The color result is darker or more intense than intended
  • The color result is uneven due to inconsistent porosity (Use System Pre-Color to prevent this in the future)
  • Your client wants a seasonal change
  • Your client wants to change color direction

Features & Advantages:
  • Gel consistency for easy application
  • Pleasant fragrance
  • Safe and gentle with panthenol
  • Reduces oxidative pigments quickly
  • No lightening of natural pigments

System Hair Color Remover is intended to remove oxidative color only. Therefore, if the original hair color formula contained direct dye pigments, you may only achieve a slight lightening effect

Oxidative hair color removal is most effective immediately after the initial color application.
Removal of unwanted hair color in just 20 minutes
  1. Using an applicator bottle or color bowl, mix all of Lotion 1 and Lotion 2 together. Apply to dry hair. It is not necessary to shampoo prior to application. Use mixture immediately.
  2. Starting with the darkest areas first, apply mixture to selected areas. Gently work product through the hair. Comb to ensure even distribution.
  3. Process 15–20 minutes, depending on the degree of removal desired. Over-deposited areas may require additional time for maximum color removal. Processing time may be reduced with the addition of a plastic cap and heat. If using heat, check progress frequently to see if desired removal has been achieved.
  4. After processing is completed, rinse thoroughly. Although dyes are reduced during processing, it is necessary to shampoo the hair several times with an appropriate Goldwell shampoo in order to flush out remaining dyes. Towel dry hair.
  5. Apply approximately 40 ml of Colorance Acid Color lotion or Topchic lotion 10 Volume (3%). This process will reactivate any residual dyes. If the previous color reappears, go back to step 1 and repeat application. If removal is successful, rinse lotion thoroughly. Lightly shampoo and condition the hair with an appropriate Goldwell shampoo and treatment. Do not proceed without removing the lotion completely.
  6. Choose a shade one level lighter than the target color. Proceed with the selected coloring service. A test strand is highly recommended. We recommend using Colorance after a decolorization service

This is a lifesaver
This removed my red tints gently without damaging my hair and without any bad strong smell. I was able to color hair with new shade and actually see the new color. I would definitely use this again.

Did not lighten black hair color!
I used Goldwell color remover on hair that was colored 2 days before. I tried a new permanent level 5BR color and it turned my hair black! I placed the color remover on my entire head and covered it for 20 minutes and it did NOT work. My hair is still black!! But now it also has an awful smell. I washed my hair 5 times and the smell is still there. I am so dissapointed!!

Works well
This is the only color remover I ever use and it's always worked well. I had never tried it on unnatural colors before and it completely removed the blue color that I had on the ends of my hair. The only thing I dislike about this product is that it smells TERRIBLE! Like rotten eggs mixed with chemicals. Make sure you use it in a well ventilated area and you will need to wash your hair thoroughly, several times to get rid of the smell.
ProsEasy to use Works quickly
ConsSmells absolutely terrible

Very gentle and left hair feeling soft
I was a little nervous since I had never used a color removing product before. I had added a little too much 6N and my color came out flat and much too dark; I had totally overshot my target color. Definitely not what I was hoping for. This remover got the crazy dark pigment out of my hair so I could try again. I left it on for 20 minutes. What a lifesaver this remover is and it didn't make my hair feel fried. The ends still felt soft. Super easy to use. I mixed the two bottles together in one of my coloring bowls and applied with a brush although if I ever need to use product again, I will use an applicator bottle since it is definitely thinner than Topchic color and developer.

Mild Color Remover
This color remover works very well to remove oxidative tints in a gentle, effective manner. It will not remove deeply deposited dark tones, but just about everything else. Highly recommended!

good but not excellent
this lightened hair couple shades lighter but not enough product .I ended up buying color fix at sally beauty supply which had twice as much product as goldwell in each box and did 2 treatments seperately on same day which did lighten hair to acceptable level of reddish light brown with no damage.
Prosno damage to hair
Consnot enough product to cover medium length hair.

Fantastic Results!!
Goldwell products are fantastic!! Used this on my mom's hair which had turned a redish tint from her hair color. Removed all of the brassiness so her color took beautifully. Highly recommend this product.
ProsLove this product.

Not worth the price
I had a dark brown color in my hair that was months old and I used this product thinking, because of all it's reviews, that it would work better than something I could buy at Sally's. However, it did very little to remove the color. In the areas that I did not have the dark brown color, it worked ok, but not nearly close to what I thought it would. I would have almost rather spent less money at Sally's and get the same results, possibly better.
ProsYou can use this product with an application bottle.
ConsIt did not work as well as I thought it would.

can you apply hair color immediately after using color remover? topchic color with bleach highlights ?
I used 8N color after using the color remover but found that it didn't remove enough color to lighten my hair the way I wanted it to. I was going for a dark blonde/light brown. I ended up using the Goldwell oxycur platin a few weeks later to bleach my hair and then colored after bleaching and it worked great.

I did. It took out most of the color right away. I actually liked the lighter color left. I have bleached streaks and grey and superblonde (white-ish grey.)

i wish to give the short answer you desire, but... I purchased this product because I needed to even out my hair from root to end. I have highlighted ends and 90% gray roots. I did not see any difference after applying the product, and it did not help with re applying the new color. Keep in mind that the results dependent on the type of hair , the type of color (boxed or professional, permanent or semi/demi). you can try it, it will not hurt your hair, just follow the intructions. good luck

I have been using drugstore hair color for years and need a change of products for the better. Do I need color remover to get started?
YES YES YES!!! My advice would be go to a salon and start the process there!!! Gold well is a great product to use but is specifically made for licensed stylist and I feel that they can help you with this process!!! If you decide to go... ASK questions and ask more then one salon! If your gut is telling you they are just after your money listen to them!!!!!! Hair can be ruined by attempting this process but if you get the right person and products you can def... achieve this desired look!

Lotion 1: water, citric acid, cetearyl, alcohol, sodium lauryl sulfate, panthenol, tetrasodium edta, simethicone, fragrance (parfum), alpha-isomethyl ionone, citronellol. Lotion 2: water, sodium aminomethanesulfonate, sodium aminomethanesulfinate, hydroxyethylcellulose.

hi my really long hair is dyed very dark brown, looks black, i really want it to be medium brown with gold highlights how can i do this help please
First, let me say I'm not a hairstylist, but I've gone through this. Is your hair naturally almost black? Or is it colored, and then is it permanent or semipermanent color that was left on too long? If your hair is naturally almost black, color remover won't help. Probably best to see a pro. You could try to lighten it yourself, but if you're completely new to this, it could be disastrous. And I don't want to take that long to write! But if you dyed it too dark, a color remover works well. You'll need to moisturize/ deep condition after. The instructions usually come on the package. Try mixing with water for lightest removal, and 10 volume developer for stronger removal, and 20 volume for more. Definitely research this before you try anything! Err on the side of caution, you can always remove more color later.
