    Poor results at salon
Owner of Goldwell service salon used this product on my hair to turn it bright blonde (showed her several photos of what I wanted) and hair ended up blah but was deceived due to bright salon lighting so didn't complain at time. This cost me $146 plus tip. I did call owner two weeks after service (i didn't want to say anything because I liked her and felt bad) and of course she blames my water and tells me to buy a clarifying shampoo. Why do owners always get defensive instead of acknowledging their errors and correcting. I have to have someone else correct her mistake more $$. She claimed to use Goldwell Silk Lift strong lightener / I asked her what level and she said there is no level - is this true - it appears product offered in several levels

    Love it
This one I used on my hair level 3-4 medium brown + years of level 1 black from boxed dye, if done correctly and with proper developer! you will see only a little damage. The best I tried so far.

Healthy bleached hair that can grow long & stay long
Five stars. When I had my hair done in the salon, my long-time hair dresser used this on me for about 5 years, for whole-head, on-the-scalp application. My hair grew long and healthy, and was just as thick as people who didn't color or bleach their hair. And it felt especially healthy with the Goldwell colorance demi toners. After about 5 years, when the recession hit, he started griping about salon costs and things, and about that same time, my scalp tingled in a weird way that it had never before. So I'm pretty sure I got the switch, and he started using something else that was cheaper. After about a year, you could actually see the difference in my pictures. In the first half of my time with him, using the silk lift, my hair is long, thick, and healthy in photos. In the next 5 years when I felt like there was a different product on my head (Yes! - clients can feel different products on their head, whether they tell you or not!), my hair looked thinned out and weaker. After he left, I tried to go to two different Goldwell salons to get the Silk Lift with the conditioning serum, but I found out later that I was just getting regular Goldwell bleach with no conditioning serum; it tingled and my hair still looked weaker. So I got the switch two more times. So the weird thing about this product, from a client's perspective, is that to make sure you are actually getting the Silk Lift with the added Goldwell Conditioning Serum, you almost have to do it yourself at home to watch over what goes on your head. I wish there was a way around that, or that salons could mix it in front of you. If so, then I wouldn't mind having my hair done at a salon again, instead of at home.
Pros* Much less damage than normal bleach * Hair is healthy enough to last and grow long later * Does not hurt the scalp
Cons* Bait and switch with products in the salon * Clients can't tell they are really getting the Silk Lift with Conditioning Serum set, unless they see it

great product the best one the market todate.
For taking your hair from dark to light this product is easy and does not cause any problems like tingling sensation or burning.after leaving this on for the time allowed I was very pleased it did not turn yellow. It will take practice if you are doing your own hair.I advise someone to help you if you are taking your hair down 7shades.once the desired result I leave my hair for one day before I go for the 9g color this gives you a great blonde, but make sure you use a good deep condition leaving this on for a good 30 minutes.after you use the silk lift and get this down to blonde and after you rinse it out.
ProsGreat to use,no yellow or orange .

    not perfect but ok
I had high expectations for this and have mixed feelings on it. First the Pros: big container, no smell, does NOT damage hair. The Cons : you can only use the matching developer, you have to mix in these little vials of conditioning serum, all purchased seperately. For an at home colorist, this can cause problems. Out of stock on developer? Cant do your roots until it comes in! I found it to be hard to work gets clumpy and drier than i like , making me miss a bunch of spots. I could live with having to go over my roots twice occassionally but not three times. Worst of all for me --it didnt lighten my medium brown hair nearly well enough and it was slowwwww. I love that it caused no damage any of the five times i tried it but hated that i spent a ton of money on this and its developer and serum and still had gold roots and missed spots. If it was creamier, id consider shelling out the money for the 30vol.which is a far as im willing to go.
ProsNon damaging, comes with nice measuring scoop
ConsSlow, not creamy, didnt lighten enough with 10, or 20vol developer

gently lifts my brown hair to inside banana peel yellow 45 min. 20 vol.
Okay, first, the box is way bigger in person , than in the pic. There is a side part that has its own scoop! Perfect measuring every time, and you wont lose the scoop, because you just put it back its attached side holder. it all stays closed in a snap attached lid. Great packaging. The bleach is nice, it has a pale blue color to help banish brass. as long as you use 20 vol. developer, you can use this to bleach your roots/on scalp bleaching. No burning, no scalp damaging scariness. Results: great! I lifted to a perfect pale banana peel yellow (inside). I just used one scoop, and this size is very big. So, for the $$ you shell out 1 time, you will get a lot of bang for the buck. Many processes. When I shampooed , my hair rinsed clean, no residue. and my hair felt great. Make sure you get the silk lift serum to put in the bleach, it helps with the protection of your hair, and no damage to your scalp. and hello!! 45 minutes! I have never had a bleach work that quick, and remember, dont use heat or bag your head. you dont need it. If you have to do it twice, I can see it being fine as long as your hair isnt already damaged. But using it twice on regrowth, should be alright.
Prosgreat value great results nice fragrance

Can I use this on ethnic hair?
before using this on a full head of hair I would try it on a small piece first. I had dark brown hair and it worked fantastic on mine I left it on about one hour. It is great as it does not burn the scalp and did not turn orange like some of them. I use it on my roots every 6 weeks then use goldwell extra light blond 9G and with a shade of blondish red I use 1/3 of extra light copper works very well...I do not have ethnic hair but would not be afraid to give it a try. Yes, this can be used on ethnic hair, however it is advised to not use lightener if hair is relaxed or permed.

I have goldwell 9n, with goldwell highlights.... I end up touching up every 14 days at the roots... can this silk lift be used only to lift the roots/
Yes, it is safe to lift roots and you could use the serum to replace the protein. Be careful around the hilites to not overlap. You will also get a lighter lift than using 9n. Not knowing what your natural level is, it's difficult for me to advise you on wether to tone or not to tone. Hope this answer helps.
