What it is:
Joico K-Pak Professional Cuticle Sealer , this double-action pH neutralizer and cuticle sealer is an acidifier that smoothes and tightens the cuticle, and locks in curl and color.

What it does:
The low pH formula reduces hair swelling caused by chemical services , such as tinting, lightening, straightening and perming. It deactivates and removes ammonia and peroxide residues while eliminating perm odors.

What else you need to know:
This balance of 19 essential amino acids (the building blocks of hair) adheres quickly and effectively to ensure maximum protection and reconstruction from the cuticle to the cortex.

Deionized Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, PEG-40 Castor Oil, Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin (Quadramine Complex), Laurdimonium Hydroxypopryl Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin, Hydrolyzed Keratin PG-Propyl Methylsilanediol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Keratin Amino Acids, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Yeast Extract, Benzophenone-4, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Methylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Frangrance (Parfum).
After shampooing with K-Pak Clarify Chelating Shampoo, rinse and towel-blot hair. Distribute a small amount of K-Pak Professional Cuticle Sealer throughout the hair and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse and towel-blot excess moisture from hair prior to apply K-Pak Reconstruct Deep Penetrating Reconstructor.

BEST hair product EVER!
My daughter recently bleached my already lightened hair to put a blue color on. Loved the color but , SOOO DRY. I have wavy hair and it was in shock. I bought the reconstructor and this cuticle sealer and what a difference! I can run my fingers thru it with no snags, its soft and no frizz. I wont go with out this ever again! And my blue looks great and glossy!
ProsIt works! Smooth and silky!

Joico K-Pak Professional - Cuticle Sealer pH Neutralizer
I am keeping this one in my arsenal of hair care products. It was way better than French Perm Stabilizer Plus on my hair which left my hair feeling hard. This neutralizer left my hair soft, detangled and manageable. Love it!

Great for color-treated hair
I use this weekly prior to the Joico reconstructor and after highlights. The consistency is watery and hard to distribute throughout hair but it does a great job.

Love this product
In between coloring, my hair cuticle begins to open and the ends feel rough instead of smooth. This product puts back the sleek hair feel and look. Love it. I also use it with the 3 part K-pak reconditioning system.

I used it after the clarifying shampoo and it helped my hair feel revitalized. I used it immediately after dying my hair. It helped it not to feel so dry.

Brings back the Silkiness!
My go to product whenever my hair is feeling "roughed up". One application of this and my strands are silky smooth and shiny again. Great for after coloring services too to really help color last.

My hair is mostly gray and I don't color it but it tends to get very tangled and dry between shampooing which I think might be caused by opened cuticles. Is this product good for closing the cuticle on gray virgin hair? I am afraid to use vinegar because I don't know which vinegar to water ratio is best to use and I want avoid doing more harm than good. Since my hair is dry will I also need to use a moisturizing conditioner before applying the Cuticle Sealer?
Joico K-Pak Professional Cuticle Sealer is a good product for porously hair. It contains amino acids to reconstruction the cortex and acidic pH to protect the cuticle. If your hair is dry, the best way - to use moisturizing mask (not a conditioner) and then - the cuticle sealer.

Hello! Shampoo first/rinse, apply this for about 5mins, then use the Joico Kpak Reconstructer(protein), followed by the Joico Intense Moisture Recovery, for opimal balance. The cuticle sealer works great on gray hair, with same benefitsas a vinegar rinse. Adds shine, closes cuticle, restores PH, etc. Usi ng all 4 Joico Kpak Steps is suggested, as they all work together at the correct PH. Gray hair tends to lack moisture and be brittle- which means it needs protein as well as moisture. I highly suggest using all 4 Joico steps when hair feels brittle. If it doesn't feel weak/brittle you can skip the protein step(maybe once a month or every two weeks.) The 1st step is the Joico Chelating/Cleansing Shampoo, you can use that once a week for product buildup. Otherwise, use a Joico Moisture Shampoo or similar. A good light leave in, PH balanced that moisturizes and has a light protein,(great for gray hair), is Aphogee Green Tea Restructurizer. :)

How do you use it?
It can be used as self product or as the part of k-pack system. As for self-using it is very good after coloring process, it closes the cuticle of hair. As the part of k-pack system it should be used after shampoo before reconstructor and hydrator, but I like more use it as the last step of the k-pak system (after shampoo, reconstructor and hydrator).

i just want to know if this product good for after a chemical relaxer.
I am about a year into transferring out of permed hair so some of my hair (on the ends) is still permed. The product worked fine on all of my hair permed and unpermed.

The chemical relaxers usually work in the 10-14 pH range (as chemical colorants). The high pH of relaxers displace normal pH of hair to alkaline side. The Cuticle sealer has pH 2.5-3.5 (acidic pH). It normalizes pH of hair. This product works great for my colored hair, so I think it will work too after any other chemical exposure with alkaline pH. I recommend to buy Joico Hydrator - together with Cuticle sealer they make a miracle for damaged hair!

So is better to use this product as the part of k-pack system. It should be used after shampoo before reconstructor and hydrator, but I like more use it as the last step of the k-pak system (after shampoo, reconstructor and hydrator).

do you have to use the cutlcle sealer after coloring your hair
I use this means before drawing of any medical mask, this means prepares my hair for absorption of useful substances from a mask. I paint hair of once a month and this means is irreplaceable for my hair.

You don't absolutely need to use cuticle sealer after hair color. However, using the cuticle sealer will remove most of the ammonia smell. The cuticle sealer will also smooth out your hair after coloring.

Yes if you are using a color that have ammonia and/or peroxide in it. The Joico K-Pak Cuticle Sealer is great for restoring ph balance to the hair after any type of chemical service. I would also recommend using this in combination with the Joico Chelating Shampoo. Not too much because you don't want to remove the color. A dime size amount is all that is needed to help in the removal of harsh chemicals and restoration of the hair's ph balance.

I understand that this can be used at any time. If you have damaged hair, use it before you color it. Using it immediately after you color will help seal the cuticle and hold the color.

You don't have to use this after coloring, but it's definitely worth using. It closes the cuticle, which helps retain color. It also helps keep hair healthy, as the cuticle naturally lies flat, but color lifts it. I didn't buy this for after coloring, but it's worth having around even if that's all your using it for.
