What it is:
Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm is an essential step in the Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Systeme for very dry, thick, coarse hair.

What it does:
As it helps seal the cuticle, it locks out humidity and eases away frizz. A pure Biolage Botanical Complex of Lemongrass and Wheat Germ Lipids helps condition and smooth.

What else you need to know:
Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Systeme recharges hair with intense hydration, leaving it deeply moisturized while helping to control unwanted volume. Hair is instantly soft, shiny and manageable.

Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Cetyl Esters, Lanolin, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Cetrimonium Chloride, Tricontanyl PVP, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) Fruit, Algae (Seaweed) Extract, Sage (Salvia Officinalis) Extract, Pollen Extract, Saponaria Officinalis (Soapwart) Extract, Silk Amino Acid, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ), Lemongrass (Cymbopogon Schoenanthus) Extract
After shampooing with Ultra-Hydrating Shampoo, apply to clean, damp hair. Rinse thoroughly. For more intense moisturizing, wait 1-3 minutes.

did not like
This product not the best for my blonde hair. It works better if I use it as a mask treatment (10-20 minutes). If I wash out it after 1-2 minutes. it does not work

used to love it
This product used to be my holy grail conditioner. Nothing worked better unless it was a mask treatment. I would always come back to this knowing it would detangle my thick fine hair. Then it didn't work all of a sudden. They changed the ingredients! Basically, if wheat germ oil is listed as one of the last ingredients, its the old formula.

Five Stars
This conditioner lives up to its claims. I think it's best for super dry, damaged and coarse hair. It adds moisture without a doubt. That's all I use it for. Gives my hair all the moisture it needs. Nothing else is necessary.
Prosit works extremely hydrating

Love this conditioner!
I have used this conditioning balm and matching shampoo for almost seven years and I love it! I love the way it smells and leaves my hair soft, hydrated, and detangled. I have long (about an inch below my back bra strap), medium thickness, wavy/semi-curly, hair and rarely have to use an additional detangler. Thanks Matrix for continually making great products!
ConsNothing

It Lives Up to its Name
This balm is super moisturizing and smells great. It makes my hair soft and manageable. As somebody mentioned that it contains silicone, I do not use on a regular basis but I turn to it as and when my hair needs the extra hydration. It is on my repeat order list.
ProsWorks. Reasonable price. Smells great.
ConsNone.

Great for type 4 hair!
I bought this mainly for the ceramides, and trust me, type 4 hair needs ceramides like no one's business to help with our moisture/protein balance. I bought the tub, and the product, is somewhat runny and is opaque white and somewhat thick. It also spread smoothly on my porous, coarse hair. I left this on for an 1/2 an hour on freshly shampooed hair, after my month-old cornrow takedown, and my hair felt amazing! It felt soft, but firm. This works best as a deep conditioner, however, please make sure to have a clarifyer as cermides tend to build up quickly on the scalp and hair. The first time I used this there was no build up the second time, I'm seeing a bit of buildup. A tiny bit more than usual. Nothing that my clarifyer can't cure. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product. I always keep a ceramide product on hand, for my 4c hair! Ingredients: Water Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Cetyl Esters, Lanolin, Fragrance (Parfum), Methylparaben, Cetrimonium Chloride, Tricontanyl PVP, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) Fruit, Algae (Seaweed) Extract, Sage Leaf Extract (Salvia Officinalis), Pollen Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Extract, Saponaria Officinalis, Silk Amino Acid, Wheat Germ Oil, Wheat Germ Oil (Triticum Vulgare), Lemongrass
Pros*Sophisticated scent *Goes on easily *Creamy *Ceramides
Cons*Can get expensive, It will take a good amount to saturate type 4 hair. *Buildup, thanks to the ceramides

Review for Matrix Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm - nourishes thick, coarse hair
I love how well this balm hydrates my dry coarse hair. It repairs all the damage caused from my blow dryer, straightener, etc..
