Awesome shampoo
I really liked this shampoo. It leathered up great, the leather was soft and rinsed out easily, left no residue like so many other smoothing shampoos out there. The scent was great, reminded me of a milkshake. And, most importantly it cleaned my hair well without stripping it. I didn't feel like I needed to use extra conditioner just to replenish the moisture in my hair that the shampoo washed away. In combination with the conditioner, it did leave my hair very smooth and manageable. Overall, very pleased with this product.

I love this shampoo!
This product is essential for anyone who has damaged or older hair (or both!). It's part of a keratin replacement system and I have found it has really helped my hair. I use the shampoo in conjunction with the conditioner. I have also seen a large improvement with my hair since I started using the shampoo.
ProsDon't need much!

helps control the frizz
I have natural the vein of "L'il Orphan Annie," and as I have gotten older, (I'm now in my 60's), the curl has taken on a nasty frizz that isn't cute at all. On top of that, my former so-thick-you-can't get-a- comb-through-it hair has become quite thin. Although this product doesn't eliminate the frizz, it has reduced it significantly. It's important to use not only the shampoo, but also the conditioner and even the leave-in conditioner if your problem is similar to mine. The only thing that this company could do to make me even happier with their product line is to include a detangle agent. I lose a lot of hair as I try to comb through it between and even immediately after shampoos. Curly, fine hair is a miserable combination.
Prosit's as close to "natural" as a top-notch product can be
ConsThis company needs to produce a spray-on detangle product especially for curly, thin, frizzy hair.

Can I use this product (shampoo/conditioner) without have a keratin treatment? just looking to keep hair manageable during the summer months
I use this product all the time, so does my mom. She's NEVER had a keratin treatment and her hair is more manageable and less frizzy. Products that have no sulfates, sodium, etc. are labeled for keratin treated hair. However, any type of hair can benefit from this type of shampoo and conditioner. It's perfect for color treated hair too because those ingredients strip hair color.

I was using this product without having reapplied a keratin treatment for over a year and after stopping and switching to a regular shampoo, I can say that my hair has been slightly less manageable after a wash not utilizing this shampoo. The roots are a little bit harder. If you are looking for long term management however, in the sense that you don't want your hair to be able to frizz or be affected by the weather, the best thing would be to obtain the actual treatment and maintain it with this shampoo. By itself, the shampoo has not kept my hair from being affected by the weather.

I use this shampoo and I've never had a keratin treatment. I just love the way it makes my hair feel. I do use it in conjunction with the conditioner, which keeps my hair from being too frizzy.

Is this shampoo truly sulfate-free? I'm sensitive to strong fragrances; what does this shampoo smell like and is it strong?
The best adjective I can think of to describe the smell is "waxy." Other than that, the shampoo simply smells clean. I don't know about its "sulfate-free-ness," but my hair is very fragile, and after having used the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner for the past 5 years, I can honestly see a significant improvement in my hair. Good luck!

It is truly sulfate free, the fragrance did not seem strong to me. If you follow he directions with the shampoo, the conditioner it does what it says to course, frizzy hair like mine. I also started using this shampoo and conditioner because I had already been using the purple leave in that my hair dresser gave me.

I have a Brazilian Blowout. I tried the product that complemented it. It was OK. Then I ordered the Xtend & I like it much better. It doesn't dry out my hair which is what the Brazilian line did. I don't like strong scents, either. It's frangrance is mild; almost none at all. If I had to compare the scent it is like a 'rain' or 'linen' at Bath & Body. Hope this helps with your decision. I don't think you can go wrong. Sincerely,

Hi Lily, Not being a chemist I can not tell you whether the shampoo is truly sulfate free. I can, however, relate my experience with the shampoo. First the fragrance is pleasant and very mild. I have fine, frizzy, color treated, dry hair that has been a problem all of my life and I have never found any product to help until now. I had a very reasonable and fast treatment in May in my salon of a Simply Smooth product (don't know the name) and a gentle flat ironing. I was amazed and have been using the Keratin Replenishing shampoo Xtend and conditioner ever since. I live in New York City and we have had three heat waves so far this summer and extremely high humidity and my hair has been a pleasure to handle. I never thought I would be able to say that! As everyone has different hair, I can only hope that you will have the same results! Do try the shampoo and conditioner and you will not have sensitivity to the fragrance. Good luck and please let me know your results. Here's to healthy hair, Marge

Does this shampoo contain sulfates? I was told by my hairdress that I should not use any shampoo with sulfates as it would shortened the life of my brazilian blowout.
Simply Smooth is specifically made for people who have keratin treatment, also known as a brazilian blowout. It is also great for color-treated hair as sulfates strip the color the same way it strips the keratin treatment. I have found this particular shampoo to be very effective in keeping my color fresh looking as well as prolonging a keratin treatment.

Hi, first I want to say no it does not.. but i can tell you this, from my hairdresser, the blowout is not worth it.. you should actually do the full kerratin treatment.. it lasts about 4 months. I love it, Iove these products and with they hype that went on about they changed their formula as well.. I will never go back, and my extreme curly hair is very tame, and has never been healthier. For once in my life, I can actually say, I love my hair...

The ingredients list does show some sulfates, however this was the recommended shampoo by my hairdresser as it is intended to extend the life of the brazillian treatment. For me, it has worked very well.

Jean, a brazilian blowout is a long term treatment. It lasts about 3-4 months. It is the same as a keratin treatment but you can wash your hair the next day. Same principle just a slightly different product.

There are no sulfates in these products, that is why I was referred to use it. I previously used Bumble and Bumble products, and my hair was all dry and icky, then did the blowout which improved my hair condition, but I kept using the same product, so the blowout did not last. Then I tried the Simply Smooth line of products. My last blowout is over 6 months old now and still doing fine. I definitely recommend this line of hair products.

Anybody have the ingredients to this? Can this be used everyday?
Simply Smooth shampoos can absolutely be used every day. This is not a treatment; it is a shampoo that makes hair shiny and manageable. I have not had a keratin treatment and used this product -- it's not just for hair that has had a keratin treatment. It's for anyone who wants hair that's healthy and manageable.

I use Simply Smooth products every day. My hair is on the dryer side and the shampoo & conditioner is like a daily, followed by the Gloss before I blow dry makes my hair silky and manageable. My hair dresser just commented, wow Keratin is really working for more breakage. Damaris - Denver

i will have to look at the bottle again.. but i can tell you i have been using this product for over a year. i have natural curly hair, and this brand works for me and tames it down... i love it and dont use anything else ever. Now with natural curly hair we cannot wash our hair daily, so i go every three-four days cause of our texture and so forth.. if you do not have curly hair, then i would suggest everyother day... hope that helps
